چکیده

Results are reported from beam test measurements of one of the first commercial prototype gallium arsenide microstrip detectors. The detector consisted of 128 strips on a 50μm pitch, with a wafer thickness of 200μm. Operating at a bias of 180V, the detector produced a signal to noise ratio of 19 to 1, with a particle detection efficiency of better than 99%. The spatial resolution of the detector was measured as 14.6μm without charge sharing effects. Charge sharing between pairs of strips was seen to improve the spatial resolution, with an average value for all events of 10.4μm.

Electro-optic field mapping system utilizing external gallium arsenide probes

External electro-optic probes fabricated from two different crystal orientations of GaAs have been implemented in an electro-optic sampling system that is capable of mapping three independent orthogonal components of free-space electric fields. The results obtained for the radiated field from a microstrip patch antenna by the GaAs probes are compared with results on the same antenna obtained us...

Measurements of spatial resolution of ATLAS Pixel detectors

Standard as well as irradiated silicon pixel detectors developed for the ATLAS experiment were tested in a beam. Digital and analog resolutions were determined comparing the positions measured by a microstrip telescope and by the pixel detector. Digital resolutions of 10 μm and analog resolutions of 6 μm (before irradiation) and 10 μm (after irradiation) are obtained without subtracting the err...
